Express PCR Testing
The PCR test is very sensitive and accepted by most airlines for international travel
purposes.
PCR stands for ‘polymerase chain reaction.’ PCR testing involves duplicating DNA found
within a sample obtained from an individual’s nasal cavity, in order to enlarge the quantity
of DNA and allow for effective analysis. ‘Polymerase’ is an enzyme which contributes to the
copying of DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) or RNA (ribonucleic acid).
We work in partnership with an Irish laboratory group to process the tests. The sample will
undergo laboratory analysis that has a > 98% accuracy rate at detecting an active COVID-19
coronavirus infection.
A sterile swab is inserted into the back of both your throat and nose. This may be
uncomfortable, but it will not be painful. When you visit our testing centre, we will take
swab samples from your throat and nasal tissues.
Results should be available from the Laboratory within 24-48 hours. The Express PCR test

Coronavirus Rapid Antigen Test
Antigen tests are faster, cheaper and usually very accurate, but they are marginally less
sensitive than the PCR test. A sterile swab is inserted into the patient’s nostril, to the surface
of the back of the patients nasopharyngeal passage.
The test results are processed on site and will be ready after 15-30 minutes. This test costs

Coronavirus Antibody Tests
A small blood sample is taken to check to see if there are specific antibodies to Covid-19
present in the sample.
These are specialised proteins and indicate if you have had a previous infection with the
virus.
These antibodies help to fight off the disease and are only produced by the body after
exposure and infection has occurred.
The presence of antibodies does not necessarily mean that the individual is protected
against future attacks of Covid-19.
Please note, antibody tests should not be used to diagnose someone as being currently
sick with COVID-19. To check for a current infection, you need a viral test which checks
respiratory samples, such as a swab from inside your nose.

What to expect during your test
The Tester/Swabber will scan your barcode for verification (PCR Test only) or confirm your
ID (Passport or Driving Licence) and ask you to provide your Name, Email address, Mobile
number.
A small swab will then be inserted into the back of your nose (and another in the mouth if
PCR test).
Inform Swabber if you have nasal polyps before they begin or if you have a preferred nostril!
Swabbing is slightly uncomfortable, but pain free & take approximately 10 seconds. Once
swab has been successfully taken the Swabber will give you the thumbs up to leave.
